Our study
To get more insight about the study procedure that would concern your participation, please select the age of your child below:
5 to 7 years old
Our longitudinal study design aimes at understanding the personality development of children aged between 5 and 7 years old, all the way through to young adulthood. If you have a child aged 5 to 7 years old, we would like to invite you to participate in this study.
Your and your child's participation in this study is entirely voluntary. You are allowed to take a step back from the study whenever you need. We want this to be a positive experience for both you and your child.
Here is how it works: You will receive questionnaires to fill out online every three years, up until your child is around the age of 18. That means you will have five questionnaire sessions (each 45 minutes) in total with three years in between sessions throughout the total duration of the study. These questionnaires will delve into your child's way of thinking and behaving in everyday situations. We will also ask you some questions about yourself. Once your child gets to the age of 12, we would like to invite them to participate and fill out their own questionnaires.
We understand how busy life can get, so we've made it as easy as possible for you to participate. You can complete the questionnaires from the comfort of your own home. Once you've registered, we'll send you a link via e-mail to access the online questionnaires. Each session should take around 45 minutes to complete, so you can fit it in whenever it's convenient for you.

Here is how it works: You will receive a first set of online questionnaires briefly after your registration and a second one three years later. So, if you would start your participation now, in 2024, we would contact you again in 2027. That means you will have two online questionnaire sessions throughout the 3 year duration of the study. Each session will take approximately 45 minutes, which means the study will take you two times 45 minutes in total. These questionnaires will delve into your child's way of thinking and behaving in everyday situations. We will also ask you some questions about yourself.
If your child gets to the age of 12 during the three years interval or is already 12 years old at your first session, we would like to invite them to participate and fill out their own questionnaires as well. Please talk to your child about the study and ask them, if they are interested in participating. The participation of your child is independent of your own participation. You can participate even if your child does not want to fill out questionnaires about themself.
